Your body speaks.
I've been practising as a therapist for just over a decade. I trained at the Centre for Training in Psychotherapy in Toronto. My work draws on psychodynamic, somatic, and polyvagal-informed approaches — which in practice means we pay attention to more than just what you say. I take note of how you are responding to me and the dynamic that arises between us. I pay attention to what you say and what you do not say, the pace of your breath, the timbre and inflections in your voice, the subtle tensions and shifts in your body, and your physiology. By doing this, I also guide you to learn how to take note of all the intimations and insights your body is offering you.
About Me
Approaching psychotherapy with a holistic view of body, mind, personal history, and the present day, at the centre of our work gives us a rich field to work with. Once we build a common language around these aspects, we can consider what continues to be useful, what is no longer needed, and what you want to mindfully create for your life today.
My journey.
I came to this work through a life living internationally, and through the arts — acting, writing, visual art — years of it before I ever sat in a therapist's chair.
My career in acting shapes how I listen. Theatre teaches you to watch what a body is doing while a person says something else entirely, and to sit in that sticky place of holding a story that is not yet resolved.
My international background allows me to understand from experience that we are all more similar than different, and also incredibly unique. There is more complexity in life than right and wrong, good and bad, yes and no. All of these things can mean different things in different cultures, different times in history, different moments in life. It is not for me to judge, it is my desire to understand what it is that brings you here at this time. Can I keep you company as you work to understand aspects of yourself?
I don't think of people as problems with solutions, or sick patients who need fixing. I think we are all works in progress and some of us heed the call to find our way towards living as authentically as we can.
I am a Toronto-based Registered Psychotherapist (CRPO) with over 10 years experience.
Sessions are online and by phone across Ontario.
